NZ Maori Flag — Tino Rangatiratanga

NZ Maori Flag — Tino Rangatiratanga

The Tino Rangatiratanga Flag is the official flag of the Māori people of Aotearoa New Zealand — a powerful symbol of Māori identity, sovereignty, and pride. Designed in 1990 by Hiraina Marsden, Jan Smith, and Linda Munn, the flag features bold red, black, and white with the koru at its centre, representing the unfurling of a new frond and the promise of new life and growth.

Whether you’re representing your whakapapa, showing solidarity, or flying it with pride, this flag is a statement of identity that resonates across Aotearoa and the Pacific community in Australia.
